Greetings RezDowntowners,
As I type this morning’s eNote I am watching highlights from the Royals most recent series against the Tampa Bay Rays and it’s getting me excited for tonight’s trip to the ballpark. We have sold out our tickets, so it should be a fun-filled and action-packed evening at the K! Beside anticipating baseball we had a great week in ministry downtown with over 30 people participate in our “What does it mean to be a United Methodist?” Class with Dr. Hal Knight from Saint Paul School of Theology. It was a great turnout for this seminary level class! Dr. Knight will return to be with us next Wednesday evening as well for the second week of this great course.
This weekend we’re continuing our sermon series on Parables. Pastor Adam will be preaching on Jesus’ parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man. It will be a powerful message and a great look at the topic of wealth and riches. Please invite friends and join us for our third week of this series. Our KidsCOR programming will be up and running again after taking a week off for the July 4th holiday. I hope to see you this weekend!

SWAT Brunch Club – This Sunday, July 12th at 12:30pm. Rez Downtown’s SWAT (35-and-older Singles With A Twist) group will meet this Sunday, July 12, at 12:30 pm at Voltaire’s in the West Bottoms, 1617 Genessee Street. Glory Revival Concert and Evening of Worship – Join Glory Revival, our Resurrection Downtown worship team, for a night of worship at our Leawood Campus, Thursday, July 16, 7:30 pm, Sanctuary doors open at 7:15. This is a great opportunity to experience a powerful evening of worship—invite a friend! More information is available at facebook.com/gloryrevival.
Save the Date – The First Women’s Retreat for Resurrection Downtown! Join other women onSaturday, August 29, 9 am – 2 pm, to learn more about spiritual wellness from our guest speaker, Pastor Anne Williams. We will create prayer journals to continue this spiritual journey during our own time, participate in a relaxing beginners’ yoga class taught by Shannon Wheeler, and put together wellness bags for the women at Rose Brooks Center. A light breakfast will be provided and lunch will be a joint effort, so we are asking everyone to bring an item to share. Register for this event online at rezdowntown.org/womensretreat . The cost is $25 per person; scholarships available. Start collecting travel-size hygiene products for the wellness bags (even the guys can do this!) Pray for Our Honduras Serve Team – On July 19–26, a team of 11 from Resurrection Downtown, led by Derek and Kat Faulkner, will travel to Honduras to serve children and families there. They will team up with Pastor Alejandro, local pastor of the Methodist Church in El Obraje and principal of the local primary school. Together, they will offer a volleyball or basketball clinic for the children in the community, continue construction on the Internet Café which will assist students with their education, and work with 7th-9th graders in the local school on practicing their English. Please be in prayer for this team as they travel to Honduras and make a difference in the lives of many children and students. For more information about this trip, visitrezdowntown.org/hondurastrip.
I am excited to see you at tonight's Royals game and I can't wait to worship with you this weekend. Please know that I consider it a privilege to serve Christ alongside you in this city.
