From Mike Ash-Worship Leader/Director of Community
Hi Resurrection Blue Springs,
As I pray and dream about the new year I'm reminded of God’s promise in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” 2016 is an opportunity for new beginnings. I hope you'll take advantage of some of the study and serving opportunities this year. We are called to be followers of Jesus and ambassadors of hope to our community and the world.
This week we remember Bill and Penny as they are in McPherson Kansas to celebrate the life of Bill's father Garth. He passed away Sunday night and the funeral is this Friday morning.
I hope you'll join us this Sunday as Pastor Adam teaches about religion and politics. This should be an exciting sermon series and an opportunity to invite someone for these interesting and often dividing issues. Facing Issues That Divide | Building Bridges and Tearing Down Walls – Starts January 10, 2016 and runs through February 7, 2016.
Below you'll find several ways to connect to the life of this community!
TGIF (Thank GOD it’s Friday) is a fun, interactive program for children kindergarten – 5th grade, Fridays, Jan. 8 – Feb. 26, 6:30-8 pm; $10 per child. Children will have worship, games, snacks, crafts, mission projects and build lasting friendships with God and each other. Sign up here or at Guest Services.
New Sermon Series: Facing Issues That Divide | Building Bridges and Tearing Down Walls – Starts January 10, 2016 and runs through February 7, 2016. Politics and religion are two topics many say should never be mixed, but beginning on January 10th that’s what we’re going to do! As we enter an election year, issues divide us and civility gets lost in the rhetoric. Can we disagree and still find common ground? What does Jesus call us to do? Where can we stand united? Join us as we take a thoughtful look at critical issues facing our country, learn from one another and build bridges that unite us as one nation under God.
Parenting Teenagers – Sundays 6-7:30 pm, Jan. 10 – Feb. 7. Parenting teenagers can be harder than ever for parents today. The aim of The Parenting Teenagers Course is to equip parents and caregivers to build a healthy relationship with the teens while guiding them into adulthood – plus it helps to discover we are not alone in the challenges we face. Come join other parents of teens to commiserate and learn new strategies for parenting teens well. Sign up here or at Guest Services.
Premarital and Newlywed Preparation Class – Saturdays, Jan. 16 and 30, 8:30 am - 1 pm. (Leawood Campus) Open to recently engaged couples, newlyweds and couples exploring the possibility of marriage. Class is required for anyone getting married at Resurrection.
