Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, January 8, 2016 of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Greetings RezDowntowners,
This weekend we are kicking off our new sermon series on Facing the Issues that Divide. Pastor Adam will be leading us through what it looks like to build bridges and tear down walls as we as a nation approach difficult conversations and controversial issues. Once again people bracing themselves for a year of polarized politics in which candidates sling mud at their opponents. Complex moral and political issues will surely be addressed in thirty-second soundbytes while offering polar opposite solutions and I imagine incendiary e-mails containing partial truths will be forwarded by the millions. As we focus in on these controversial issues, my hope is that we will find that Jesus’s words can lead us to tear down walls, to build bridges as we seek a better way to do politics. I hope you’ll invite friends and join us as we kick-off this series this weekend. I think this is going to be a sermon series you won’t want to miss.
This weekend we’ll also be sharing our 2016 Rezolutions. We’ll have a whole list of community groups, activities, events and opportunities to serve available for you as a way of helping you to get connected and plugged into this community and our journey of knowing, loving and serving God. I hope you’ll come and pick up your 2016 Rezolutions and make this year the best yet.
I am looking forward to this weekend in worship and to seeing you as we continue building Christian community in the heart of this city. In the meantime, below you’ll find lots of ways to connect to the life of this church:
