Dear Friend,
Right now, the U.S. Senate is considering legislation that would stop Syrian and Iraqi refugees from finding a safe home in our country.
You have already taken a stand as a person of faith and moral courage by signing the petition telling politicians to welcome refugees — we're going to need your help again to defeat this legislation.
Here's what you can do:
1. Call your Senators today at 1-866-940-2439 and tell them to vote NO on H.R. 4038! You can say: "I’m a constituent from [State] and I support the resettlement of Syrian and Iraqi refugees. I am opposed to any bill that would stop or pause the resettlement of refugees of any nationality or religion. I urge the Senator to vote NO to H.R. 4038, The American SAFE Act."
2. Tweet at your Senators. Click here to find your Senator's Twitter handle. Here's a sample Tweet you can copy & paste: .@SENATOR, our community is ready to welcome #Syrian #refugees. Vote NO on H.R. 4038. #RefugeesWelcome #AmericaWelcomes!
We need all hands on deck - the Senate is scheduled to vote on Wednesday, January 20th. As people of faith and moral courage, we can be a powerful voice to remind our country's leaders that refugees fleeing violence need love, not hate.
Thank you for all your work and support!
