Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this message finds you doing well today. I’m excited that the weekend is upon us, but honestly, I cannot believe it is already here! The time this week has been flying by and I’m still reflecting over all the baptisms and services we held last weekend. (7 baptisms, 1 funeral, 1 wedding and a great day of FaithWork!) Tomorrow morning we kick off another big weekend beginning with a great opportunity for parents all over the metro to join together to discuss the best ways to share and develop your children’s faith at home! Pastor Anne Williams and Sarah Brischle are going to be leading this great discussion from 9-10:30 at 1508 Grand. I hope you’ll invite friends and join them for a morning well spent!
Also, this weekend in worship we’ll be inviting you to consider travelling in mission by joining our team heading to Honduras this September! Our Honduras trip is a phenomenal opportunity to experience this great community in El Obraje where we’ll work with kids by putting together Vacation Bible Camps and continue building their community center that services the entire community! I want to encourage you to consider this life changing opportunity as it is certainly a trip to experience. This weekend we are continuing our sermon series by focusing our attention on God of the Second Chance by focusing on Jesus’ ministry to and care for prostitutes. It is going to be a powerful weekend in worship and I want to invite you to join us on Saturday or Sunday. We’ll be welcoming our new members at the beginning of each service!
In the meantime, here are a several ways to get connected to the life of this church:
Have a great Friday.
Grace and Peace,
Scott

In the meantime, here are a several ways to get connected to the life of this church:
- This Saturday: Say Your Prayers: Developing a Child’s Faith at Home – Join Pastor Anne, this Saturday,April 23, 9 -10:30 am at 1508 Grand (childcare provided at Grand with registration) for a discussion about strategies to foster your child’s faith development at home. You’ll be empowered to initiate spiritual conversations, share your own faith, approach complicated religious questions and engage in prayer with your children. You will also hear from KiDSCOR Director Sarah Brischle about our KiDSCOR programming, so that you can use it as a launching pad for your own conversations about faith at home. Space is limited. To reserve your spot and register for childcare, go to cor.org/downtown/sayyourprayers. For questions, contact Pastor Anne.Williams@cor.org.
- Pastor Scott’s Class on The Misfit Mission – Hear the inside scoop on Scott’s new book and receive your own personalized, signed copy. Starting Wednesday, May 4, at 7 pm, this 4-week study will examine what it looks like for us to do the right thing in ministry, even when logic or ‘rules’ say it’s the wrong thing. Pastor Scott will show us how we really can do more than we might ask or imagine, when we remember God’s call and the promises of scripture—when we live each day with the expectation of holy surprise. With registration (required) you will receive a signed, personalized copy of The Misfit Mission for $15. Space is limited, go to cor.org/downtown/misfitmission to make sure we have a book and a spot for you! Childcare is available. To receive a signed copy and to register for childcare, register by May 1.
- Serve in Honduras Sept. 10-17 with our partner church in El Obraje – Honduras is a beautiful country with beautiful people. Take a week out of your busy schedule to grow in your faith as you support and encourage our Honduran partners.
