One of history's worst cholera epidemics still ravages Haiti's countryside, sickening 14,000 people this year alone.
The outbreak hit after the 2010 earthquake, when UN peacekeepers built poor sanitation systems near a crucial water supply. Just days ago, after six years of denial, the UN finally acknowledged responsibility. But no action accompanied their words.

Cholera is caught from unclean water and causes diarrhea and vomiting so severe it can kill in a matter of hours.
