"You likely didn't know Ben"
You likely didn't know Ben Barger. He was born to missionary parents in Africa, went to Duke, got his Ph.D. in Psychology and taught at Ohio State before coming to UF to direct the student mental health department - about 50 or so years ago. He and Marilyn joined Trinity about that time, sang in the choir, served graciously in lots of ways. After retirement Ben and Marilyn were volunteers at AGH (remember that hospital?), accumulating record number of hours; they also ushered at the Performing Arts Center, again at record number of hours, and much more. They loved their children and Grand children.
Ben was a kind and generous man, gracious, positive, wonderful. He and Marilyn and legions like them are why Trinity is such a special place. They're like Lydia and Priscilla and Aquila in the Bible, people who just go about being Christ followers and somehow the world is better for it!
You likely didn't know Ben, but I hope you know someone a bit like Ben who will help you navigate your spiritual walk like Ben helped me, and so many others. Oh, and this question: who are you helping along their way? Who might be looking to you as an example of one who knows and loves and serves Christ in winsome ways? It's really important stuff, isn't it?
