The cost and capability of 3D printing is rapidly approaching the commonplace. Soon we may not need to buy a spoon to replace one that is lost. We may be able simply to print one out. Sometimes we act like we have the ability to program and print out just exactly the God we would like to have. Two parts of this, remove that, add four parts of something else and press "Print." Then God-in-our-image is ready to go. So when Jesus says "No one can come to me unless drawn by the Father who sent me," we can feel a bit uncomfortable, if not actually annoyed: "But I want to press print." Or even: "But I don't want this Jesus; I want that one." Yet what good news it is that we have been called by God to come to Jesus, and not a teacher of our own design! Jesus is from God and has seen God. In coming to Jesus, our hunger for God is fed forever.God of our sustenance, draw us to Jesus, that we may be taught by you. Amen.
