Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Foundry Publishing House of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Monday, 8 January 2018 "God Is Holy" by Susie Shellenberger - Psalm 99:1-9
Psalm 99:1 Adonai is king; let the peoples tremble.
He sits enthroned on the k’ruvim; let the earth shake!
2 Adonai is great in Tziyon;
he is high above all the peoples.
3 Let them praise your great and fearsome name (he is holy):
4 “Mighty king who loves justice, you established
fairness, justice and righteousness in Ya‘akov.”
5 Exalt Adonai our God!
Prostrate yourselves at his footstool (he is holy).
6 Moshe and Aharon among his cohanim
and Sh’mu’el among those who call on his name
called on Adonai, and he answered them.
7 He spoke to them in the column of cloud;
they kept his instructions and the law that he gave them.
8 Adonai our God, you answered them.
To them you were a forgiving God,
although you took vengeance on their wrongdoings.
9 Exalt Adonai our God,
bow down toward his holy mountain,
for Adonai our God is holy!

One of the first Bible verses I ever memorized was “God is love.” Pastors throughout the world preach this truth. We enjoy seeing God as love. It feels good to know His love surrounds us, doesn’t it!
While many authors, composers, and pastors preach on the love of God, fewer teach on His holiness. We often become so enamored with His love that we simply don’t focus on His other attributes. However, we discover in Revelation 4:8 that the living creatures surrounding His throne are riveted, concentrated–even fixated–on His holiness: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” Notice they’re not praising His power or His kindness. They’re celebrating His holiness.
If I only accept God’s love, mercy, and grace but fail to recognize His justice, holiness, and judgment, I’m not seeing the totality of God. All of heaven is keenly aware of our Father’s holiness. Make no mistake, He is holy...and He desires to make us holy as well. If we'll focus on living a holy life through His Spirit, love and mercy will be the natural by-products..

Hymn for Today: "Sanctifying Power" by Lelia N. Morris
1. There is sanctifying power,
Like a sweet, refreshing shower,
Waiting for each consecrated heart;
Power to cleanse us from all sin,
Power to keep us pure within,
Power for service which He will impart.
Refrain: I’m so glad, I’m so glad
For this saving, sanctifying power!
Waves of glory o’er me roll,
Peace abides within my soul,
I’m so glad for this sanctifying power!
2. I’m so glad it reaches me,
All unworthy tho’ I be,
Overcoming grace made freely mine.
Since the Comforter abides,
And within my heart resides,
I am walking in the light divine.
Refrain: I’m so glad, I’m so glad
For this saving, sanctifying power!
Waves of glory o’er me roll,
Peace abides within my soul,
I’m so glad for this sanctifying power!
3. This God’s will for you and me,
That we sanctified should be,
Dwelling in this land of plenteousness.
Fling your doubts and fears aside;
Boldly cross the Jordan’s tide,
And your heritage in Christ possess.
Refrain: I’m so glad, I’m so glad
For this saving, sanctifying power!
Waves of glory o’er me roll,
Peace abides within my soul,
I’m so glad for this sanctifying power!
4. Songs of praises let us sing
To our blessèd Lord and King
For this great salvation rich and free:
Every needed grace supplied,
Every longing satisfied,
Saved for time and for eternity.
Refrain: I’m so glad, I’m so glad
For this saving, sanctifying power!
Waves of glory o’er me roll,
Peace abides within my soul,
I’m so glad for this sanctifying power!

Thought for Today: Keep pursuing shalom with everyone and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.(Hebrews 12:14)

Please pray: That many people in Kosovo will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
