ADVOCACY ALERT
Let's Be a Second Chance Nation!
We have a timely opportunity for you to advance second chances.Yesterday, Pres. Trump held a criminal justice roundtable with governors and other stakeholders. He said of those affected by incarceration, “We have a great interest in helping them turn their lives around, get a second chance, and make our community safe.”
We are encouraged to hear the president’s indication that he wants to unlock second chances for those who have paid their debt. Every person has dignity and potential, but one in four American adults has a criminal record, which limits their access to education, jobs, housing, and other things they need to reach that potential. That’s why we celebrate April as Second Chance Month and want to increase momentum this year through events, press, and a presidential proclamation designating April as Second Chance Month.
Would you send this letter to Pres. Trump asking him to proclaim April 2018 as Second Chance Month?
Together we can unlock brighter futures for 65 million Americans who have repaid their debt to society.
Blessings,
Craig DeRoche
