MESSAGE –A Special Announcement from the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church – Tuesday, 26 November 2013 - Announcing No Property and Casualty Premium Rate Increase in 2014!
Loss control workshops in 2012 resulted in a 65% reduction in claims and no rate increase for 2013.  This year, our commitment to claims reduction and further negotiation yielded us the same premium rate as well as coverage enhancements and additional coverage for 2014.
Enhancements apply to the following coverage:
Building Damage Coverage - In the event any one of your buildings were damaged, the cost to remove debris and the additional cost of construction to comply with current building codes is now covered under your policy for an increased amount of $350,000 for demolition cost and $350,000 for increase cost of construction. This increased limit applies to each and every building you have insured under the policy.
Sexual Abuse and Molestation Coverage - The total limit of liability insurance for sexual abuse and/or molestation allegations is now increased from $2,000,000 to $3,000,000 at no additional cost to your church. This was done by increasing the sub-limit on the Umbrella Liability Policy.
Cyber Liability Insurance - Now provided in the amount of $100,000 with a $10,000 deductible to protect your church in the event of an internet security breach and to provide coverage for the cost of complying with Federal Notification Laws if a breach were to occur. There is a very minimal monthly premium charge of $25 that will be added in the premium cost of local church (Nesting churches are excluded from paying the cost). Those churches and ministries that operate a website, will be asked to have the person operating the web site attend an on-line webinar to learn how to protect the privacy of your members and what security measures you can implement to reduce your risks.
We are also planning on offering loss control workshops again in the beginning of next year. Announcements will proceed once the dates, speakers and locations are finalized.
Thank you in advance for your efforts in maintaining your facilities, conducting regular safety inspections and for being good stewards of all God has entrusted to us. May we all use our gifts and blessings for God’s glory and make Disciples of Christ Jesus through our work and lives.
With gladness and gratefulness,
Archana Carey,
Treasurer/Executive Director of Finance & Facilities
