Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this message finds you doing well with full stomachs and thankful hearts. It has been good to be able to spend the last few days with my family visiting KC from Michigan. I had a chance to give them a tour through Resurrection Downtown in both of our locations and it was particularly fun for them to see our two spaces all decorated and ready for Christmas! They can still remember visiting five years ago when we were preparing to launch RezDowntown. They couldn’t believe all that has happened in just a short period of time. We paused several times simply to give thanks for what God has done. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I want to invite you all to join us this weekend in worship as we kick off the season of Advent and celebrate Resurrection Downtown’s Five Year Anniversary. It is going to be a great weekend of anticipation and celebration! We’ll light the advent wreath, sing some carols, give gifts to everyone in attendance and maybe have something sweet to share as well. It will be a great occasion for remembering who God is and who God continues to call us to be as a group of people seeking to build Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians in the center of this city. Make plans to invite your friends and family to join us in worship this weekend. We’ll be excited to see you.
In the meantime, here are some other announcements to help get you better connected to the life of this church:
rezlife Middle School Students will not be meeting this Sunday – please join your family in worship. KiDS COR and Childcare will have normal schedules.

Special Holiday FaithWork – On Saturday, Dec. 6, a week earlier than usual, just show up at the church (1522 McGee) wearing grubby clothes at 9 am and we will send you out to serve. We will have several opportunities, including helping at Don Bosco Center and Wendell Phillips Elementary School in addition to throwing holiday parties for the women and children at Rose Brooks and New House, centers that care for victims of domestic violence. The knitting group will not be meeting this month, but will meet again in January. Start your holiday season off right by participating in FaithWork! BBQ Club – Pastor Todd is curious to know which BBQ place is the best in Kansas City. Each month he tries a new dive on the third Saturday of the month. For December, the BBQ Club will be trying out Snead’s BBQ since 1956! They are located at 1001 E. 171st St., Belton, MO. If you love BBQ, plan to meet Pastor Todd on Saturday, Dec. 6, around 12:30 pm (after FaithWork). Bring a friend – unless your friend is a vegetarian!
Happy Thanksgiving and know that I am so honored to be a part of this community and I am so proud to serve Christ with you in Kansas City. Have a great Wednesday and I'll look forward to seeing you live and in person this weekend as I preach a message entitled 'Whatever It Takes' and we offer all that we have and all that we are to God in worship!
Grace and Peace,
Scott
