Zenit: The World Seen From Rome for Monday, 19 January 2015 "Christians of the Middle East"

Ignatius Youssef III Younan - Patriarch of the Church of Antioch for the Syriac Catholic Church

We write with great joy to express our profound gratitude for the universal Catholic Agency ZENIT, which has shown and shows day after day a high level of professionalism and efficiency. Beyond the activities, the works and various homilies of the Patriarchs and of the writings of Bishops, priests and laymen in different ambits, to transmit and cover the news and the events of the Church in general and of the Vatican in particular, including Pope Francis’ homilies, his meetings and his activities, along with the news of the Holy See and of the Vatican Congregations, is extremely important for us.
Your work offers substantial nourishment of holiness, simplicity and spiritual profundity, giving the most limpid possible image of the Church and her pastors. A service to the Word of God everywhere, implementing the command of the Divine Master, who invited his disciples and like them sends us to: “Go out into the world and proclaim the Good News to the whole world.”
We are proud of anyone who commits himself and contributes to ZENIT’s success and we wish all, the directors, journalists, volunteers and readers a Happy New Year, asking the Divine Child to make the year 2015 one of goodness, blessing, health, peace and prosperity. especially for the countries of the Middle East, particularly Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, the Holy Land, Egypt and all places where Jesus’ little brothers are suffering.
We pray that the Lord will inundate you with the blessings of Heaven with the prayers of our Holy Father Pope Francis.
Happy New Year.
Ignatius Youssef III Younan
Patriarch of the Church of Antioch for the Syriac Catholic Church
