"A Child's View of God"
A child's view of God, either spoken or drawn, generally resemble the way they experience their own parents and other important individuals in their lives (Miller, 91).
It's true - of children, and I suspect it's true of many adults! We learn about God through others, and those experiences shape so profoundly how we interpret Scripture and life's experiences.
Ask yourself: "How do I see God? Do I see God as a loving, gracious Person? How do my kids see God? With intentionality, errant views can be corrected by two key things: (a) seeing God through the lens of Jesus - "if you've seen me you've seen the Father" he said, and (b) being in loving, Christian community - small groups, Stephen Ministers, the Body of Christ, which, by the way, is another reason that Extravagant Welcoming is so important!
Love and prayers,
Dan and Jan
