Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living from The Global Church of the Nazarene in Lenexa, Kansas, United States for Monday, 24 August 2015 - "Trust God Over Man’s Predictions" Scripture: Matthew 24:36-51RG AUDIO 082415
Matthew 24:36 “But when that day and hour will come, no one knows — not the angels in heaven, not the Son, only the Father. 37 For the Son of Man’s coming will be just as it was in the days of Noach. 38 Back then, before the Flood, people went on eating and drinking, taking wives and becoming wives, right up till the day Noach ENTERED the ark; 39 and they didn’t know what was happening until the Flood came and swept them all away. It will be just like that when the Son of Man comes. 40 Then there will be two men in a field — one will be taken and the other left behind. 41 There will be two women grinding flour at the mill — one will be taken and the other left behind. 42 So stay alert, because you don’t know on what day YOUR Lord will come. 43 But you do know this: had the owner of the house known when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you too must always be ready, for the Son of Man will come when you are not expecting him.
45 “Who is the faithful and sensible servant whose master puts him in charge of the household staff, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will go well with that servant if he is found doing his JOB when his master comes. 47 Yes, I tell you that he will put him in charge of all he owns. 48 But if that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is taking his time’; 49 and he starts beating up his fellow servants and spends his time eating and drinking with drunkards; 50 then his master will come on a day the servant does not expect, at a time he doesn’t know; 51 and he will cut him in two and put him with the hypocrites, where people will wail and grind their teeth!
"Trust God Over Man’s Predictions" by Author: Mallory Sauer
People have long predicted the time of the apocalypse, the end of the world, the second coming of Christ, judgment day, etc. They have developed convincing theories and prophecies based on anything from the Holy Bible to the Mayan calendar. Have any of these predictions ever come true? We’re still here, aren’t we?
In the days approaching the year 2000, the “Y2K” scare swept across the globe, with many people fearing not only a worldwide computer crash but also the apocalypse. In 2012, some suggested that the world would end on December 21st, since the Mayan calendar ended on that day. These dates arrived and passed. We’re still here!
As intelligent and educated as any of today’s “prophets” may be, they often overlook one critical flaw in their theories. The Bible says that no one knows when that day will be (Matthew 24:36). In fact, Jesus said that only the heavenlye there. Father knows the day of His return. It’s good to know we belong to a God who has control over time. Trust in God, and be ready for Christ’s return, even if it’s today!
Hymn for Today: "When The Roll is Called up Yonder" by James M. Black
1. When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright, and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.
Refrain:
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.
2. On the bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.
Refrain:
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.
3. Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun;
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care.
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I;ll be there.
Refrain:
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder,
When the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.
Thought for Today:
"so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,[
Hebrews 9:28 Isaiah 53:12] will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to deliver those who are eagerly waiting for him." [Hebrews 9:28]
Please pray:
That many people in Zimbabwe will come to know Yeshua the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
