Soul Care New Every Morning from The Global Church of the Nazarene's Office of Clergy Development in Lenexa, Kansas, United States for Friday, 4 September 2014 "[On the contrary,] they are new every morning! How great your faithfulness!" Lamentations 3:23
Good Morning, Ministry Partner:
Be Encouraged by God's Word:
hose conflicts and disputes among you, where do they come from? Do they not come from your cravings that are at war within you? You want something and do not have it; so you commit murder. And you covet something and cannot obtain it; so you engage in disputes and conflicts. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, in order to spend what you get on your pleasures.[James 4:1-3, NRSV]
Wisdom from Fellow Pilgrims:
s soon as we are alone... inner chaos opens up in us. This chaos can be so disturbing and so confusing that we can hardly wait to get busy again. Entering a private room and shutting the door, therefore, does not mean that we immediately shut out all our inner doubts, anxieties, fears, bad memories, unresolved conflicts, angry feelings and impulsive desires. On the contrary, when we have removed our outer distraction, we often find that our inner distraction manifest themselves to us in full force. We often use the outer distractions to shield ourselves from the interior noises. This makes the discipline of solitude all the more important.[Henri J. M. Nouwen]
Pray Together with Us:
O Lord, whose way is perfect: help us, we pray, always to trust in your goodness; that walking with you in faith, and following you in all simplicity, we may possess quiet and contented minds, and cast all our care on you, because you care for us; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.[Christina Rossetti]
