Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek - Tuesday, 8 September 2015 from The Resurrection United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Tuesday, September 8, 2015,
Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this Tuesday eNote finds you doing well after an exciting Labor Day weekend in Kansas City. As you might have heard or read in the Kansas City Star, this past weekend was a pretty big one at RezDowntown! We announced that as of Tuesday, September 1st, Resurrection Downtown entered into an agreement to buy approximately two acres of surface-level parking located just to the south of our 1522 McGee location that will provide much needed space for our growing congregation to dream and build upon. (See image of location below.)
Since we launched our campus in December of 2009, Resurrection Downtown has grown from a handful of individuals into a collective community of roughly 1000 people each weekend. In 2011 we purchased and renovated a former bar and concert venue (Crosstown Station) to house our primary services of worship and community gatherings, in 2013 by an act of extravagant generosity we added a second location at 15th and Grand to serve as offices, classrooms, and additional worship space. Two years later we are thrilled to have secured this new property with the help of our neighbors at the Kansas City Star because we believe it is the best possible location for expanding and fostering our ability to live fully into the future of this great city. I am convinced that God has been working this entire time to prepare the way through collaborative relationships that have allowed us the privilege of continuing our work of building Christian community in downtown Kansas City. This is only something God could have done.
For the past 5 years we have loved our neighborhood and strived to continue doing the things that God does to be the best neighbors we can be, but also to serve this city and all the people in it so that Kansas City might become the best city it can be by the grace of Jesus Christ!”
Our hope is to begin sharing this exciting news with as many people possible so that we can involve as many people as we can. If you haven’t seen the brief article in the Kansas City Star, click here and share it on your social media outlets!
We are also looking for your input please take a moment to answer three short questions that will allow you to share in our dreaming process. Click Here to respond to our three questions and help us dream about the future God has for us!
Lastly, we are in the process seating a building committee with the purpose of dreaming and designing our next space. If you are interested in this team and have experience in construction, design and/or architecture, we would love to have you submit an application to be a part of this team. Click here to express your interest.

In the meantime, please know that I am coveting your prayers and I hope that you are as excited as I am to dream about the future God has for us here in this city as we seek to transform downtown Kansas City by the grace of Jesus Christ.
Grace and Peace,
Scott
