Resurrection West,
Thank you to the 400 of you who stayed after worship last Sunday to support our rezlife student ministries summer mission teams by eating together! I personally enjoyed the “breakfast bratwurst” the most! Well done students and volunteers on serving so many. I have begun to pray already for your mission trips to Minneapolis and Lawrence. Later this summer on July 24th our students will be leading worship services, so mark your calendar now!
This Sunday is a “Family Worship Sunday”, which means we invite all of our children 6 years and up to join us in worship (childcare for 5 years and under will be available at all services) as we give our KiDSCOR Sunday School teachers a break. We will have kids activity packets, a children’s moment led by Christie Walker - Director of KiDSCOR, and my 10-year old daughter, Hailey, will help preach the message! We are kicking off a three-week series called Adventure: Living an Authentic and Abundant life with inspiring adventure stories from members who run ultra-marathons and have biked across America! Some of life’s adventures we choose and others we face unexpectedly, like the couple we’ll hear from on Sunday who met while serving in the military and found a lifetime of joyful and also challenging adventures, like facing cancer. How do we experience what Jesus called the abundant life through the adventures that come our way? Sunday’s message is entitled “Never Give Up”. Come and let’s explore this together. Reach out and invite a friend to join us in worship at 9am, 10:45am, or 5pm.
We will also recognize our veterans and active military in worship on Sunday. Wear your uniform to worship as we give thanks for your service. Our church offices and buildings will be closed on Monday, May 30th, in observance of Memorial Day.

We are looking for parents, youth and other adults who would be willing to serve one or two Sundays in KiDSCOR or at one of our awesome summer camps – no experience necessary. Thursday LIVE! Register today for the women's summer study - Normal people are stressed, overwhelmed, and exhausted. And when it comes to God, the majority believe in him, but the teachings of scripture rarely make it into their everyday lives. Simply put, normal isn’t working. Join us as we study Craig Groeschel’s book, “Weird, Because Normal Isn’t Working”. Class dates are July 7, 14, 21 and 28, meeting from 9:30-11:30am. Dayton Moore, General Manager of the World Champion Kansas City Royals, will be speaking at Resurrection West on Saturday, June 11, from 8-9:30am. This special guest appearance is open to any of the men in our community and is in coordination with the current Saturday Morning Men’s Group study, More Than A Season. FaithWork will meet on Saturday, June 11 from 9-11:30 am at the RezWest Mission Center (25000 College Blvd, Olathe). Adults and children of all ages are welcome to help with family-friendly mission opportunities. Contact Chris.Holliday@cor.org for details.
Resurrection Foundation - Leave a lasting legacy for your family, church and community! Attend The Estate Planning Seminar on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 9 – 11 am at the Leawood Campus, Room C136, Building C. Register at cor.org/foundation.
Father’s Day is coming up on Sunday, June 19th. We will be celebrating our fathers and the amazing impact they have had on our lives at each worship service and we need your help. Please send us your favorite pic with your father, grandfather, and/or pics of you with your own children by June 12! Pictures will be shown in the Father’s Day worship service. Please send your pic to fathersday@cor.org and be sure to note that you are from the RezWest campus.
Resurrection West Sports Camp and Vacation Bible Camp, “Meet the Royals”! Two great opportunities for kids this summer, one amazing week of fun! Registration is now open for RezWest Sports Camp and RezWest VBC. Both camps will take place June 20-24; Sports camp (Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football & Cheerleading) will be held in the morning, followed by VBC “Meet the Royals” in the afternoon. Register for one or both of these events. A supervised “sack lunch” time will be held for those who participate in both activities. We hope to help hundreds of kids grow in faith, wisdom and friendship through these programs, so we will need many volunteers - youth and adults! All parents who volunteer for VBC and have children younger than kindergarten will be able to register their little ones in early childhood VBC or nursery. RezWest Mission Trip to Malawi – January 12-22, 2017. Travel in mission with Pastor Jason to Malawi! Serve with our Malawian brothers and sisters as we reach out to the community through a variety of projects. This is an exciting way to step out of your comfort zone and affect the lives of so many. 5th - 7th Grade Summer Mission Trip, July 11-15 - Join us for a week of serving others, growing closer to Christ and having a lot of fun! We are heading to Lawrence to serve through non-profits, including homeless ministries, housing projects, food/shelter non-profits and much more. Register by June 1st to guarantee your spot.
