The Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Thursday, 03 May 2018 from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe Kansas, United States

The Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Thursday, 03 May 2018 from the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe Kansas, United States
Resurrection West,
This Sunday Pastor Adam will be asking the question; “What would Jesus say to….the #metoo movement?” Invite a friend to join us in worship as we gather to grow in understanding how to apply our faith into the context of our times. And come hungry as the rezlife students who are serving in mission this summer to Iowa and Lousiana will be offering breakfast brats & danish pastry in the morning and hotdogs & hamburgers in the evening. Your dollars will help to fund this summer’s mission work!
Please join me in welcoming Marilyn Thomas to the RezWest staff team. Marilyn has been a committed member here at RezWest for years and has begun this week as our new Coordinating Assistant for Programs and Ministries. She will office at the Connection Point desk during the week. More about Marilyn below.
Finally, Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday, May 13th and we want to celebrate all the women in our lives; moms, sisters, daughters, etc. Please send us a pic (one per household only) so we can include it in our video montage tribute on Mother’s Day worship - by May 10th. It can be any pic you’d like, as long as she approves it! Send your pic directly to our Director of Worship Arts, Lindsay Hefner, at lindsay.hefner@cor.org
Look forward to worshipping with you Sunday,
Jason
Welcome Marilyn Thomas!
I was born in Bremerton, WA. My father was a career Navy man, so we moved quite a bit but saw some interesting places, including being stationed in Honolulu twice for a total of 4 years. My parents were native Californians, so we always migrated back to California and eventually all of us considered it “home”. I married and moved from California to my husband’s home town, Lenexa. We have two grown children, Ronnie – who lives on a 200-acre farm in Centerville, KS and Kristen – who lives in Olathe. I also have one granddaughter, Claire, who will be a junior at K-State next year. And then there’s Pretzel, my 12-year old mini dachshund who makes me smile every day (not that Ronnie, Kristen and Claire don’t, too!). Most of my career was spent in the legal field, from which I retired last year. I’ve also spent quite a bit of time through the years volunteering for STOP! Violence (a self-help program for inmates across Kansas).
Upcoming Opportunities to Connect, Grow & Serve
rezlife Mission Cookout, this Sunday!
Students will be outside grilling and serving food after each worship service. Support rezlife Student Ministry mission trips as you enjoy a breakfast sausage & danish pastry in the morning, or burgers & hot dogs in the evening. Your donations help offset the costs of their upcoming mission trips.

Hygiene Bag Donations
Some families/individuals are forced to make tough financial decisions about buying the daily essentials many take for granted. To help meet this need directly, our United Methodist Women’s Circle and our Monday Women’s Bible Study group are collecting personal hygiene essentials to bag and distribute to those in-need in the surrounding community. The items needed are as follows: large rolls of toilet paper, large bars of bath soap, large shampoos, large spray deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes (for all ages), laundry detergent pods and dishwashing soap. Please place your donations in the mission bins in the back of the sanctuary by Thursday, May 31. Thank you for making a positive difference in our community. For more information, contactChris.Holliday@cor.org.
