This important new study captures the experiences of more than 1,400 family caregivers of children and adults with a rare disease, condition, or disorder across 400 different diseases.
The briefing will explore policy recommendations and will highlight the unique challenges facing rare disease caregivers across the United States.

Hawaii Family Caregiver Coalition
Earlier this year, the Hawaii Family Caregiver Coalition published Aging and Disability Issues 2018: A Guide for Hawaii's Legislators, Organizations, & Citizens. The report provides an overview of the current political context, significant programs of senior care, and current legislative proposals for the 2018 Session. The report was accompanied by visits of teams of family caregivers and advocates to the offices of state legislators. Read the report HERE.
Washington State Department of Social and Health Services
The 25th annual Washington State, Giving Care Taking Care Conference will take place on June 4, 2018. It is designed for family and community caregivers and offers practical, up-to-date resources and information to help individuals in their caregiving responsibilities. Dynamic speakers from a variety of backgrounds including health care, rehabilitation, social work, and law will share their expertise and knowledge in 20 sessions offered throughout the day. This report to the Advisory Council on Alzheimer's Research, Care and Services presents the results of the first National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons with Dementia and their Caregivers (the Summit), held on the NIH campus in October 2017. This Summit was intended to set national research recommendations that reflect critical scientific priorities for research on care and services for persons with dementia and their families. The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center, co-administered by n4a and Easterseals, has released Dementia, Caregiving and Transportation Toolkit, a new resource designed to provide caregivers with information and strategies to approach the coordination of transportation for meeting the everyday needs of older adults with dementia.
