The Water's Edge Congregation is a modern, inter-generational service at First United Methodist Church in Mission Valley, San Diego. We meet in the "Cove" (directions) Sundays, 9:30 AM under the leadership of Pastor Elbert Kim and the Water's Edge band, led by Chris Durrand.

Up the mountain and back
When was the last time you found yourself on a mountaintop?  It's an awesome feeling to be high up on a mountain, looking over the valleys and out towards the plains. The air is clean, though it may be thin, but the beauty of God's creation jumps out at you as everything looks so small from up there.
Often we take trips up the mountain, either for camping or hiking or just to get away for a weekend. Mountaintops are places where we feel our spirits soaring  while the worries of daily living are left down below.  But as many of us know from experience, sooner or later we have to come back down and deal with the stuff of life.
This Sunday is Transfiguration Sunday, when Jesus brought some of his closest disciples up the mountain to show his true nature. It's also the final sermon in our series, Designed by Jesus, where we've explored the parables told by Jesus, that reveal what God created us to be. Knowing this, how shall we live our daily life as we go back down the mountain and engage in our community?
Join me this Sunday as we climb the mountain to see Jesus.
Blessings,
Pastor Elbert
