Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
We are a day away from Thanksgiving and I know that many of you are preparing to celebrate with friends and family. Before you head out, I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and tell you how grateful I am for all the ways you have sacrificed and worked this year to build a community that is offering hope to so many, both inside and outside our church. It is humbling to think about what God has done here in such a short time and exciting to see where he will continue to lead us in the coming years. I am very grateful to be able to work alongside you and thankful for the opportunity to be your pastor.
Don't forget to take a break from your shopping on Friday to stop by the church and donate blood. The Community Blood Center will be here from 12 - 3:30 pm. The need is especially great during the holidays so I hope you'll consider taking the time to offer this life saving gift.
This Sunday we begin Advent with a new worship series called Incarnation. Pastor Adam will be preaching about the names given to Jesus by those people involved in the Christmas stories; the prophets, shepherds, angels and wisemen. We begin with MESSIAH and LORD this Sunday. It’s also a "family worship Sunday", meaning that our children and youth are invited to worship together with their families (There are worship packets for the children and the nursery is available through age 4 for each service, but no Sunday School). We will also be lighting the advent candles and singing some of our favorite Christmas music. The sanctuary looks beautiful thanks to everyone who worked this week hanging the greens and preparing our building. I want to encourage you to make a commitment to be in worship each week this Advent as we come together in anticipation of Christ's birth!
Our Alpha Christmas Dinner will be Wednesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30pm in our Sanctuary. The evening will be filled with food, fellowship and a chance to see why more than 8,000 people at Resurrection, and over 23 million worldwide have taken Alpha. We will have plenty of room, so feel free to invite your family and friends. Please sign up Sunday if you need childcare.

Family Worship on November 30th Thanksgiving weekend is coming, which means we’ll be holding a Family Worship Sunday, November 30th. This means that we won’t have KiDSCOR programming, but our Nursery will be available for infants to 4 years of age. These opportunities allow our families an opportunity to worship together and teach our children about the importance of worship. Worship bags will be available at the Sanctuary entrances to help keep little ones engaged.
Breakfast with Santa Join us to celebrate Christmas by “Giving it Away!” on Saturday, Dec. 6, 9:30 am. We will have “Give it Away” stations for the kids to make Christmas Cards for our friends in the nursing home, blessing bags that they will be able to take with them to give to somone in need, and more. Plus enjoy a pancake breakfast and, of course, our friend Santa will be there for the kids to visit, too!
Christmas at Resurrection is a Kansas City tradition! This must-see musical presentation features more than 300 actors, singers, dancers and instrumentalists in a celebration of Christmas and the depiction of the traditional Christmas story. Make plans to attend a performance December 10–14. We’ve reserved a block of tickets for a group from Resurrection Blue Springs to attend the 7:30 pm performance on Friday, December 12. Our tickets will be$16.60 (including tax). To purchase from this block, contact Laura Cooper (913)232-4178. Join us in Leawood for this great family holiday tradition as we celebrate Christmas at Resurrection!
Service of Healing and Hope There are two special services at our Leawood campus for anyone who has experienced a loss and is finding this time of year difficult - Dec 4, 5:45 and 7:30 pm in Wesley Chapel - free dinner in the Student Center 5:30-7:00 pm. cor.org/carenight
