Behaviors Lead to Results There is a lot of emphasis on accountability and hitting performance numbers. The tendency is to hold people accountable for achieving specific results – “good” means “having good numbers” and “bad” means “not having good numbers”. But people do not accomplish goals because they are set or simply by wishing. People engage in specific behaviors which lead to specific outcomes. To get the desired results, hold people accountable for their actions. Create a plan you agree should produce the desired results. Hold the person accountable for engaging in those actions the specified amount of time. Measure the results. If their actions were good and so were the results, it is a win. If their actions were good but the results were not, then rework the action plan and try again. If their actions were not good then address that. Numbers are important but they do not tell the whole story. Be clear about the behaviors that are most likely to lead to the desired results and hold people accountable for those. Share Your Creativity Do you have a simple and effective thing you do to provide excellent hospitality, wonderful guest follow-up or outreach that connects with people who do not attend church? If so, we want to hear about it. Send in your ideas and we will review them and share some here in future editions of the newsletter – don@dnacoaching.com.
