Henri Nouwen Society - Daily Meditation
Toronto, Ontario, Canada - The Henri Nouwen Society Daily Meditation for Tuesday, 18 November 2014 "Acting in the Name of Jesus"
Ministry is acting in the Name of Jesus.  When all our actions are in the Name, they will bear fruit for eternal life.  To act in the Name of Jesus, however, doesn't mean to act as a representative of Jesus or his spokesperson.  It means to act in an intimate communion with him.  The Name is like a house, a tent, a dwelling.  To act in the Name of Jesus, therefore, means to act from the place where we are united with Jesus in love.  To the question "Where are you?" we should be able to answer, "I am in the Name."  Then, whatever we do cannot be other than ministry because it will always be Jesus himself who acts in and through us.  The final question for all who minister is "Are you in the Name of Jesus?""  When we can say yes to that, all of our lives will be ministry.[Text excerpts taken from Bread for the Journey, by Henri J.M. Don't miss out! Journey with us this Advent
as we read and reflect on Henri Nouwen's
A Spirituality of Homecoming and A Spirituality of Living

Two of the four books in the
Henri Nouwen Spirituality Series,
edited by the late
John S. Mogabgab.
On Sunday November 23rd, our facilitators, Brynn Lawrence and Ray Glennon will introduce themselves on the blog and invite you to do the same. Each Sunday from November 30th to December 21st Brynn and Ray will post reflection questions on the blog. There is no need to register or sign-in. For more information and to participate, please go to:

Read, reflect, share your thoughts - participate at your own pace and in whatever way is most meaningful for you.

A Spirituality of Homecoming and A Spirituality of Living can be purchased from our bookstore as books or e-books.  These titles are slim volumes of about 60 pages each so please don't be daunted by the fact that we are reading two books this Advent! We thought they would complement each other and hope you agree.
