Spring has finally arrived in Elmira, and students are finishing up the academic year with Term III. Several travel courses are currently underway to Italy, Ecuador, and Brazil. I encourage you to follow their blogs, and watch for others, by clicking here.
A sincere thank you to all who supported our first-ever Elmira Everlasting Day of Giving on Wednesday, April 25th. It was gratifying to see our alumni engaging with the College, and each other, to encourage giving for student scholarships. A total of 274 gifts were received for a total of just over $24,000. Many of these contributions were from first time donors. The success of Elmira Everlasting provides a foundation for the College to reach out to a greater number of alumni and friends in the future.
The College has also undertaken a new strategic planning effort this year, seeking feedback from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. We are currently reviewing that feedback with those stakeholder groups, and preparing a report for the June Board of Trustees meeting. This feedback will provide context as the institution identifies new strategies for meeting the needs of today’s students.
As we head towards Commencement, and the conclusion of my first year as president at Elmira College, I want to take a moment to say thank you to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends, for your work, support, and enthusiasm throughout the year. I look forward to developing and continuing our relationships in the years ahead.
Sincerely,
Charles W. Lindsay
