Flint Water Warriors at New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church
Tomorrow, we are announcing your signatures at a press conference in the halls of Congress to demand a real solution to the tragedy in Flint - and to make sure Flint doesn't happen again anywhere else.
We're 2,200 signatures away from our goal of 5,000.Will you add your name to tell Congress to vote for a budget that helps the families of Flint, Michigan?
After the tragedy in Flint, people from around the country sent money, water, baby formula, and other supplies.
It was a beautiful example of people coming together to say, "No one gets left behind."
But Flint needs to replace toxic pipelines and provide health and education services for children and adults exposed to lead.
That's something only our government can do. It's why we have a government.
To make sure that happens, our government needs to hear from all us - and especially from people of faith.
People of faith have been a part of every social justice movement in history. Today, we continue that tradition as we work for justice for Flint.
It's why, as a rabbi at Bend The Arc Jewish Action, I'm attending a press conference in Congress tomorrow that is publicizing the People's Budget, and letting Members of Congress know the number of faith leaders and people of faith who signed our letter.
It's why Moses went to the Pharaoh and said "Let my people go!"
It's why we teamed up with Elder Sarah Bailey from Flint, Michigan to share the story of what happened there. (You can read it below.)
Tomorrow, I want to tell the media and Congress, "5,000 people of faith demand you do something about Flint." Your signature can help us do that.

Bend The Arc Jewish Action
My name is Elder Sarah Bailey, and I am a Water Warrior in Flint, Michigan.
For months, the people of Flint cried out that something was wrong with our water - that our children were getting sick, their hair falling out.
But our politicians didn't listen. Flint is 57% African American, and 40% poor. An emergency manager was appointed, and they had absolute power.
They made decisions for budgetary reasons that poisoned Flint, because cutting costs was put above the well-being of our people.
This is what austerity budgets look like - thousands of children and families exposed to toxic lead. But "the blessings of the Lord maketh rich and add no sorrow."
While there are many worthy local efforts, right now I'm inviting you to help me support the People's Budget - an effort in Congress to replace austerity with justice and prosperity. The People's Budget includes $765 million for Flint to replace toxic pipelines and provide needed health, education, and other services for our people exposed to lead.
In Flint, we need the People's Budget. In America, we need the People's Budget.
Please join me in adding your name to a letter addressed to Congress in support of the People's Budget. This letter - which is being organized in partnership with Bend the Arc Jewish Action - will be shared with Members of Congress as they consider their votes next week. Our goal is 5,000 signers before the big press conference on March 15th.
5,000 names to say: The tragedy in Flint happened because someone wanted to save money and we will not let it happen again.
5,000 names to say: We can prevent the next tragedy like Flint by supporting a budget that invests, rather than divests.
5,000 names to say: We will do whatever is necessary for the waters of justice and righteousness to be safe for our children to drink.
With 5,000 people speaking out, our politicians will be unable to ignore Flint again.

We hope for the best, we pray for the best, and we keep on going. With your support, we can make a difference.
In solidarity,
Elder Sarah Bailey

It wasn't until our fellow citizens from across the nation joined in our efforts that our collective voices finally sounded the alarm!
Bend the Arc is building the power and passion of the progressive Jewish movement in America by bringing together Jews from across the country to advocate and organize for a more just and equal society.
