The L'Arche Canada Foundation of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada Daily Thought with Jean Vanier for Saturday, 5 March 2016 "The Purpose of Our Cry"
In our world, the crying out for help is something wrong. It is showing your weakness. And maybe the secret that we are being told is if we go down in our own weakness and touch our cry, then we will begin to see where salvation comes from.
We cannot experience God unless we experienced our cry. If we think we are great and that we are living off the light that is in us, then we will not touch some mystery of God. We cannot experience the mercy of God unless we have touched our misery.[Jean Vanier]
---------------------The L'Arche Canada Foundation of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada Daily Thought with Jean Vanier for Friday, 4 March 2016 "The Cry"
The cry comes from the depth going down into our own poverty. The cry will always spring from weakness, the place of fragility. The cry asks, will somebody appreciate me? Does somebody appreciate me, welcome me, accept me. Only if there is a response for that cry will I know that I am loved. Does someone really care? The answer is a confirming and challenging relation. The absence of response is death.[Jean Vanier]
