Congregation Beth Israel ~ It's Time for our Annual Thanksgiving Mitzvah Project

Congregation Beth Israel ~ It's Time for our Annual Thanksgiving Mitzvah Project
For over a decade our congregation has provided and delivered meals on Thanksgiving Day to individuals and families who are home bound. This wonderful Mitzvah is one of the many great traditions of our historic congregation and has become a sacred ritual for many of our families. Once again, we are asking for your help in fulfilling this sacred commitment on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013.
This year's project is being chaired by Jeanne Chanen with the support of our past chairs Gail and Michael Baer. Jeanne is being assisted as well by Reed Hirshman and Melissa Liberson, our BITY Social Action Vice Presidents.
This years agency recipients include: Area Agency on Aging, Benevilla, DES/Adult Protective Services, Duet, Jewish Family & Children's Services,
Justa Center, Phoenix Children's Hospital, Valleylife, AZ Foundation for the Handicapped, Alzheimer's Association,  AZ Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Desert Mission & the Foundation for Senior Living.
This year, Chanen Construction Company has made a matching grant to our project. They have generously agreed to match up to $5,000 of the donations we receive from our CBI members. We are grateful to the entire Chanen Family along with Chanen Construction for their kindness.
There are three ways in which you can participate in this year's project:
Tzedakah
The dinners we provide cost $10 per meal. They are prepared by the Sprout's Farmers Market.  Remember, all gifts will be matched up to $5,000 through the generosity of Chanen Construction Company so the more Tzedakah we collect for meals, the more we will be able to provide this year and in coming years as well.
Baking Desserts
We are supplementing the delivered meals with fresh, homemade desserts provided by CBI congregants. Please drop off desserts by 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 24th to the kitchen entrance on the west side parking lot. Our youth group (BITY) teens will be there to take the desserts. If possible, please cut desserts into single portions.
Delivering Meals
Volunteers are asked to arrive at the Sprout's Farmers Market (NEC of Tatum/Cactus) any time between 7:30AM - 8:15AM on Thanksgiving morning. We will be ready with meals near the bakery/deli counter area. You will be provided the addresses for your deliveries at that time.
Registration is open online by clicking below . We look forward to sharing in another wonderful Thanksgiving Mitzvah Project with all of you!
