The Washington Post is interested in talking to adult caregivers for a story about gender imbalance. Many studies have shown that women make up the majority of caregivers for aging or disabled parents. One team of researchers recently found that even when controlling for other factors - such as career demands, childcare arrangements and other variables - the single biggest criterion for deciding which family member will care for an ailing parent was gender.
Media Request:
- Adult daughters, who have taken care of a parent managing Alzheimer's disease, and has male siblings (brothers)
- Adult sons, who have provided some care to a parent managing Alzheimer's disease, but primary care is provided by their sister
- Caregivers should be comfortable using their names and being photographed
- Preferably located on the East Coast/near the Washington DC area
If you or someone in your network might be interested in talking about this type of caregiving experience to the Washington Post, please contact the Alliance at (301) 718-8444.

We're interested in continuing the conversation on caregiving. If you have something to say, send it to Grace at gracewhiting@caregiving.org to be shared with this listserve.
