Arlene T. Jensen, 92, widow of Rev. Harold Jensen, of Independence, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Mercy Hospital.
Services for Arlene Thelma Jensen were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, at Grace Memorial United Methodist Church in Independence with Rev. Frank Morgan officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church and sent to Webb Family Funeral Service, 1475 S. 10th, Independence, KS 67301. Arlene was born on July 5, 1922, in Yuma, CO, to Thelma Violet (Tiff) and Albert Edward Brown, the second of four children, and was raised in Yuma. On June 9, 1943, she married Harold Jensen. The couple lived in York, NE, until he graduated from the School of Theology and became a Methodist minister. They then lived in Blackwell and Thomas, OK, and numerous towns in Kansas including: Toronto, Dearing, Dennis, Ft. Scott, Wellsville, and retired to Independence in 1983. Rev. Jensen passed away in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Royal Neighbors. Survivors include: Son; James Albert Jensen, Birmingham, AL. Two daughters; Lois Marie Jensen, Brimson, MN. Ruth Ann Jensen, Independence, KS. Sister; Waneta Herron, Battleground, WA. 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother; Cleo, sister; Laberta, and a son; Gary Charles Jensen, in November, 2009.
