Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Monday, 20 October 2014 "Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight."
If someone would have told me 5 years ago that in 2014 I would be serving dinner to the disadvantaged families of Gainesville and traveling to Tennessee to replace the kitchen floor of a 50-year-old mobile home, I would have told them they were out of their minds. That was the perspective I held from a hardened heart. After fully dedicating my life to Jesus Christ, He began to work on clearing out the impenetrable stones that walled my heart off from the world and replaced them with compassion for those that are going through a rough time. Trusting in the Lord was the first step, and He led me to Called To Action, with which I have the opportunity to provide a quality meal to those who need it. He also led me to ASP, where I get to help remodel homes of those that can’t afford the cost to do it on their own. When one trusts in the Lord, He guides them to accomplish His work on earth even though it may make no sense to us initially. I still have a long way to go in learning to trust Him fully, but looking back on events like these show me that He is remodeling my heart, one stone at a time.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for helping us to see others with compassion through your Holy Spirit, and blessing us through taking part in your work. Amen! (Jay Schnedl)
