The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind,to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Luke 4:18-19
“Please don’t quit.” This was the request of a child sex trafficking survivor to our small Trinity United Methodist Women Human Trafficking Committee in 2012. With God’s help, we have continued our quest to honor her and make positive changes in our community after our hearts were touched by this young woman.
Jesus was an advocate and wants us to be advocates. We could not ignore the facts we had learned about the wide scope of human trafficking crimes happening everywhere, including right where we live. Our goals started as helping to educate and spread awareness on these issues and to find resources available in our county. God lead us to reach out in partnership with others and form the Alachua County Coalition Against Human Trafficking in 2013. For more information: www.accaht.org
