The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States an enote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, February 13, 2015
Greetings RezDowntowners,
What a great week of mission and ministry it has been. We have had lots of great goings on here at the church all week long ranging from Make It On Monday to a great turnout for the Men’s Breakfast or from Easter planning at the Kauffman to planning out our next steps into the future. It has been a full week. This weekend will include more of the same. On Saturday morning, we will be hosting our Women’s Breakfast at 9:00am at 1522 McGee, they’ll be hearing from Resurrection’s own Kelly Sisney, Jackie Thomas and Megan O’Neill. We’ll also be hosting people at our Leawood Campus for the Share Your Heart Work Day, click here for more information.
This weekend we’ll continue our focus on Living Missionally as Pastor Adam shares with us a second message from Africa. He’ll challenge us to consider how God might be calling us through our daily work to change the world and glorify God. We’ll take a look at Africa University and some of our other mission’s partners in Africa. I hope you’ll join us and invite friends as well. Then, looking ahead to next week, we’ll begin the season of Lent, a season of preparation, 40 days marked by the ‘lengthening of days’ during which we look toward Easter. It’s a period of discipline and devotion. It’s also a period that can feel like the wilderness, complete with temptation and trial. This season begins on Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) with a service of ashes and repentance. I want to invite you to join us on Wednesday evening as well. We’ll be holding services at 7:00pm on February 18th and I will be preaching live.
I’m looking forward to seeing you this weekend in worship. If you can, please consider joining us at our Saturday or Sunday evening worship services as we often times have more space at those services for seating in the sanctuary!
In the meantime, please check out several opportunities for connecting with this community through the next coming weeks:
