As people of faith, let's make it easier - not harder - for children to find loving homes. Help us get 3,000 signatures before Friday.
As a gay Christian pastor and a straight Orthodox Jewish rabbi, we share one of the deepest experiences two people can have - raising adopted and fostered children.
But it breaks our hearts to hear the tragic stories of young people who have 'aged out' of the foster care system or have been ill-treated.
Despite all the evidence showing that LGBT parents are just as well-suited in every way to parent, discrimination abounds in our foster care and adoption systems. While such discrimination hurts prospective adoptive parents, it is children who are forced to remain in foster care year after year who are harmed the most.
Join us in asking the Obama Administration to make it easier - not harder - for children to find loving homes. Click here to add your name to our petition to prohibit LGBTQ discrimination in foster care.
Our goal is 3,000 signatures before our delivery on Friday!
The Department of Health and Human Services - which oversees the foster care system - has the authority to prohibit discrimination against LGBT children and adults by federally funded state and private child welfare providers.
Imagine a world where qualified, loving parents can easily provide homes for vulnerable children in need. As people of faith, we can help make that vision a reality - especially right now. May is National Foster Care Month when advocates, allies, faith communities, and government leaders are focusing national attention on the needs of children in foster care.
Join us to tell the Obama Administration to support changes that make it easier for LGBT people to adopt and foster, without including a religious exemption, which would only serve to undermine the worthy goals of the guidance, and would authorize taxpayer-funded discrimination.
