We Did it!!!
UPDATE: Transforming the Heart of the City.
On March 29, 2016 at our Easter worship services in the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts we announced that we collected pledges totalling $6,401,962 through the Transforming the Heart of the City campaign. These generous gifts were pledged faithfully and sacrificially to secure our new piece of property (the Kansas City Star Parking Lot - one square block between 16th and 17th St. and McGee and Grand Blvd.) and build the first new church building in downtown Kansas City in over 80 years.
Today, is a big day in the life of our church as moments ago we closed on our new piece of property! We officially purchased the KC Star Parking Lot. The sale is complete! As a way of celebrating, our staff team took some time out of the day to pose for a quick picture on our new property, all of which was made possible by God's generosity working through each of you!
Our pledging period began on April 1, 2016 and will run through March 31, 2019, which means that we are into our second full month of the fulfillment period. So far, things have been looking great as people have started to make payments toward fulfilling their pledges. I have been amazed by your generosity. It is critical that we fulfill these pledges as we continue through the design and development stages of this project. If you haven't yet started fulfilling your pledges, I want to encourage you to start this month. If you haven't yet had an opportunity to fill out a pledge card, but would like to be a part of Transforming the Heart of the City as we take this historic next step, please visit build.cor.org/downtown and you'll find more information about what we're doing and how you can be involved.
I hope you have a great Thursday and please know that God is paving the way for us as He leads us into a future filled with hope. I am so excited for these next steps as together, with great faithfulness, we seek to Transform the Heart of the City by loving, giving and serving others with the very heart of God!
See you this weekend!
Grace and Peace,
Scott
