The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "Bible Brothers (10)" Bible Reading: Philippians 4:1-9 for Tuesday, 24 January 2017
Philippians 4:1 So, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and my crown, my dear friends, keep standing firm in union with the Lord.
2 I beg Evodia and I beg Syntyche to agree with each other in union with the Lord. 3 I also request you, loyal Syzygus, to help these women; for they have worked hard proclaiming the Good News with me, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow-workers whose names are in the Book of Life.
4 Rejoice in union with the Lord always! I will say it again: rejoice! 5 Let everyone see how reasonable and gentle you are. The Lord is near! 6 Don’t worry about anything; on the contrary, make your requests known to God by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. 7 Then God’s shalom, passing all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with the Messiah Yeshua. 8 In conclusion, brothers, focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy. 9 Keep doing what you have learned and received from me, what you have heard and seen me doing; then the God who gives shalom will be with you.

For our last devotion about Bible brothers, I would like to talk about brothers and sisters in Christ. When we become Christians, God makes us part of His family. All Christians are spiritual brothers and sisters.
When Paul wrote a letter to a church, he often called the people his brothers and sisters. Paul wrote the book of Philippians to Christians in the city of Philippi. When Paul called these people his brothers and sisters, he showed that he loved them and was concerned about their salvation.
In these verses, Paul talked about some Christians who were not getting along well. He encouraged the church to help them. Paul also told them to be filled with joy, to be gentle and kind and to "think about what is good and worthy of praise" (verse 8b).
If we follow Paul's advice, we will have true fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.[Jo Krueger]
"My dear brothers and sisters, I love you and want to see you. You bring me joy and make me proud of you. Continue following the Lord as I have told you."[Philippians 4:1]
PRAYER: Father, thank You for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Help me to love them every day. In Jesus' name. Amen.
