The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "Praise God" Bible Reading: Acts 16:22-26 for Wednesday, 25 January 2017
Acts 16:22 The mob joined in the attack against them, and the judges tore their clothes off them and ordered that they be flogged. 23 After giving them a severe beating, they threw them in prison, charging the jailer to guard them securely. 24 Upon receiving such an order, he threw them into the inner cell and clamped their feet securely between heavy blocks of wood.
25 Around midnight, Sha’ul and Sila were praying and singing hymns to God, while the other prisoners listened attentively. 26 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake which shook the prison to its foundations. All the doors flew open and everyone’s chains came loose.

Our Bible verses for today tell us about a time when Paul and Silas were beaten and thrown into jail. They could have complained about what was happening to them. They could have sat in the jail and been miserable.
But Paul and Silas did not complain. Instead, they prayed and sang songs to God. While Paul and Silas were praising God, a strong earthquake "shook the foundation of the jail" (verse 26b). The jail doors were opened and the prisoners' chains fell off!
Paul and Silas couldn't control what people did to them while they were in jail. But they did control their attitude about the situation. They chose to praise God even before He freed them from jail.
You may face situations today that you cannot control. But you can control your attitude about those situations. Praise God and thank Him for always being with you![Sandy Kirby Quandt]
"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God.
The other prisoners were listening to them."[Acts 16:25]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to praise and thank You in every situation today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
