Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, March 4, 2016 of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Greetings RezDowntowners,I hope this message finds you doing well. It has been a great week in the life of this city. On Tuesday, I was privileged to attend the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, where over 800 leaders within the city gathered to pray for Kansas City and be inspired by Mindy Corporon’s testimony! It has also been a great week in the life of our church, all week long I have been receiving emails, text messages and videos from people praying throughout the city surrounding God’s desire to transform the heart of the city! I hope you have had a chance to be in prayer surrounding how God is inviting you to be a part of this bold and historic next step in the life of our church and city.
This weekend is Commitment Weekend. In worship on both Saturday and Sunday, we are concluding our sermon series with a grand celebration as together we will have a chance to offer our commitments and sacrificial gifts in praise to God as together we seek to build the first church building in downtown Kansas City in over 80 years. It is going to be a historic weekend and a moment you won’t want to miss. I am hopeful that everyone will make an effort to be present in worship on Saturday or Sunday as God is calling each of us to offer all that we have and all that we are in order to continue building Christian community in the heart of this city! This is also going to be a huge weekend for our children as well, because for the past four weeks they have been focusing on their commitments as well, each day for the past four weeks, they have been saving and stewarding their gifts in order to build the new church. This weekend, we will have the privilege to watch the children lead the way as they bring their offerings forward in worship! Parents, please remember to bring the hearts that the children have been working on to church this weekend!
As I type this, I am sitting in our office on Grand overlooking the KC Star parking lot, and I cannot believe that we are preparing to build a new church in the center of the city! What a privilege and honor. I believe that God has called and assembled us. God’s gathered us together from all across the metro for such a time as this to do something extraordinary, something that hasn’t been done in the life of this city for awhile and something that will surely transform the heart of the city for generations to come! I can't wait to see you.
In the meantime, if you would like to learn more about our next steps visit build.cor.org/downtown or if you would like to get connected to the life of this church, here are a variety of ways to get connected over the next few weeks:

As we continue discerning how God is calling us to Transform the Heart of the City, we are urging you to be in prayer concerning how God is calling you specifically to be a part of this extraordinary next step in the life of our church and city. We are about to do something that hasn’t been done in over 80 years — but Grand Vision will require a Grand Sacrifice. Over the next two weeks, please prayerfully consider your financial commitment to this endeavor and get ready to join us in worship on March 5 and 6 at any of our services as we celebrate God’s grace by making our commitments to God. Together, we anticipate Greater Things are still to be done in this city!
