"Spiritual Armor: All About the Shoes" for Monday, 5 March 2018 - goTandem
Hey, it's goTandem.
Shoes are important. They keep your feet dry and safe. They get you where you're going. And so does God's peace.
Ephesians 6:13 and 15
Therefore, put on every piece of God's armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil...
For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared.
The fact of the matter is that we are in a spiritual battle. And, ironically, the one thing you want most in war, need most...is peace. So tie up your Good News tennies. It's time to fight that battle.
This is goTandem.
Contentment: Wind-Chasers
Remember when you were a kid and all you wanted was that GI Joe or Cabbage Patch kid? How you'd sit for hours thinking of that one glorious day when you'd get it? And nowadays...what are you dreaming about getting? Well, Solomon has something to say about that.
Ecclesiastes 6:9
Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have. Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless--like chasing the wind.
Now, I don't think Solomon meant you can't ever have a goal of getting something you like or need. What he's talking about is that constant craving for more, more, more, that's almost impossible to satisfy. To "enjoy what you have" means being thankful, which is one way to muzzle that hunger for more. Time to fill up with some gratitude.
