Happy New Year!
On this New Year's Eve, I remind you that Trinity has at least
10 Mission trips planned for 2014.
Because two of them are quite a distance and will require intentional
preparation, I share them with you now:
1. Malawi, September 1 -
10. We will visit the town of Nkhoma and
as many as we can of the 300 orphans we sponsored three years ago with our
World Vision "Step Into Africa" exhibit. We may take in a safari as well.
2. St. Petersburg and
Moscow, Russia, October 13 - 23. We will
visit both historic sites and UM Churches, first in St. Petersburg, then travel
by train to Moscow and the United Methodist Seminary and additional UM
Churches. If you have interest in either
of these,
please contact Rev. Dan or Ted & Susan in the Missions
office.
Also, as you look to the New Year, keep these upcoming events in
mind for your planning:
1. Renewal of Marriage
Vows - tonight at 7:00 in the chapel.
2. The Marriage Course - January
9 - February 27: Click here for registration.
3. Dave Ramsey's
"The Legacy Journey," A biblical perspective on generational wealth
and creating a family legacy; begins January 15, 6:30 - 8:30.
4. Travel to the Holy
Land with Rev. Aaron, May 12 - 21
We return to our regular Sunday worship Schedule this
Sunday: 8:15, 9:40, 11:00 (in the
Worship Center and Youth Building).
Some of you asked me to share the six points from my sermon this
past Sunday; here they are:
Six Lessons from Mary and Joseph
1. They were open to
God's leading into new and unexpected places.
2. They knew the letter of the law, but lived by
the spirit of the law.
3. As parents, they were both strict and
accepting.
4. They were comfortable being with pauper and
prince alike (shepherds and Kings).
5. They knew when to fight and when to flight
(flight to Egypt)
6. They valued the ordinary as the cradle of
the sacred.
A Blessed Advent and
Christmas
Rev. Dan

Ted Grueser
This week's mission box will support DR HELP, a UF medical
student's mission trip to the Dominican Republic. DR HELP will be transporting 40 students and
faculty to an underdeveloped area where, starting from scratch, they will set
up a clinic serving a community and their pediatric, medical and ob/gyn
needs. Last year, the team provided
medical care to more than 1,500 individuals while distributing thousands of
dollars worth of medications and health care supplies (antibiotics, vitamins,
anti-parasitics, anti-fungals, analgesics, eyeglasses, toothbrushes).
Guatemala Mission Trip Information Meeting - Trinity will be
taking a group to Panajachel, Guatemala
June 28 - July 5, 2014. This trip is geared toward families with both a
medical and construction team. To learn
more about this great opportunity, attend the information meeting Wednesday,
January 8 at 6:30pm. If you have any
questions please contact Ted Grueser or call 416-3043.
