[Beth Immanuel Newsletter] BI Newsletter: Tammuz 5774 for July 2014

[Beth Immanuel Newsletter] BI Newsletter: Tammuz 5774 for July 2014
Welcome to the month of Tammuz!
Sivan
The busy month of Sivan has come and gone. Beth Immanuel hosted the 2014 First Fruits of Zion conference with special speaker Russ Resnik, General Secretary of the UMJC (Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations).  Thank you to everyone who joined us in Hudson for that event!  We always enjoy meeting virtual congregants.
Tammuz 17
The biblical fast of the fourth month (Tammuz 17) occurs this year on Tuesday, July 15. The fast commemorates the breaching of the walls of Jerusalem and the end of the continual daily burnt offerings. It begins a period of mourning called “the three weeks” which concludes with the fast of the ninth day of Av (Tisha be’Av), the anniversary of the destruction of the Temple.
Sabbath Table Released
Aaron Eby’s liturgical guide to the three meals of the Sabbath is finally complete and available for purchase. This exciting new resource contains all the prayers and traditional mealtime songs for Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday night, including Havdalah. It comes in two editions so that everyone can participate: Hebrew/English and Transliterated Hebrew/English. Take a look at the Sabbath Table online at Vine of David.
Sabbath Table Videos
You are invited to virtually join Beth Immanuel families at the Sabbath table through a series of Vine of David videos explaining the various rituals and ceremonies of the Sabbath meals. Take a look at this beautiful series of instructional teachings featuring the families of Aaron Eby and Troy Mitchell.
Chronicles of the Messiah
Pastor Lancaster’s Messianic Jewish commentary on the gospels, Chronicles of the Messiah, is now available for purchase in a bound edition. The bound edition contains corrections to the original and an appendices volume containing extensive indices, glossary, navigation tools, charts, maps, and additional essays. Take a look at Chronicles here, or enjoy a sample chapter in this online flipbook.
Paul’s Epistle to the Romans
All roads lead to Rome, and all Bible studies eventually lead to Romans. Join us for a two-part study of the book of Romans. Discover how a Messianic Jewish reading of the book of Romans pulls the epistle together and makes sense of otherwise seemingly disconnected arguments. This two-part study on the book of Romans divides into two ten-week segments. The first ten weeks, covering the first half of the epistle (Romans 1-8), begins Monday, July 14 at 7:00 PM. The second ten weeks, covering the last half of the epistle (Romans 9-16), will begin later in 2014. Classes meet in the library at Beth Immanuel, 828 3rd St, Hudson WI, Monday nights at 7:00 PM. (Please use the Orange Street Door.) Classes are free and open to the public. Contact us at office@bethimmanuel.org for CD subscriptions.
