Great Plains Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church "Death Notice" for Tuesday, 8 July 2014
DEATH NOTICE
ImageNaomi Kaye Hull, 83, a retired Deacon passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014, was born Nov. 19, 1930, to Albert and Bennie Bee Kaye in Highmore, S.D.
She was married in 1953 to Ron Hull in the United Methodist Church in Highmore, with her brother Philip Kaye officiating. They moved to Lincoln in 1955 when Ron accepted an appointment at the University of Nebraska’s educational television station.
After receiving her Masters degree in Gerontology through the Human Development Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln she continued her education with 15 months at Bryan Hospital studying clinical pastoral education learning how to counsel patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices. For a few months she served as the acting chaplain at Bryan hospital. During this period and after taking seminary courses in Washington D.C., she was ordained a Deacon in full connection with the Nebraska United Methodist Conference and served for more than 20 years as a visitation minister at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Naomi brought pragmatic, intelligent, useful and loving care to her ministry. The Saint Paul congregation remembers her insightful readings of the scriptures and the inspirational weekly prayers she wrote for the Sunday services. She published many of these in a small book entitled, "Saturday Prayers for Sunday Morning," for it was on Saturday that she had time to write them.
Naomi was a founding member of WIT (Women in Theology) which is a support group for women of all faiths. WIT brought many well-known theologians to Lincoln as participants in a number of conferences.
She is survived by her husband Ron, her sons; Kevin (Becky) Hull, Denver; Brian Hull, Lincoln; Brandon  (Linda) Hull, Denver;  her daughter Kathryn Hull, Lincoln; and by her brother Dr. Philip A. Kaye and her sister-in-law Zodie Kaye. Her grandchildren include, Andrew, Evan and Eliza Hull, Denver; Cassie and Kaylee Hull, Denver; Nora Robinson, Lubbock, Texas and Christopher and Allison Penas-Hull, Lincoln.
The service will be Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 10:30 at Saint Paul UMC, 1144 M, Lincoln, Neb.
She leaves a significant legacy of love and service to others.
