Ready for Your New Role?
Actors are always having to learn new things because they play so many roles.  They have to ride a horse in a commercial, speak with an Australian accent in an appearance on a television show, rattle off medical terms in a play and juggle in a bit part in a movie.  Almost no one can do all of these things naturally. Actors use coaches and continuing education to learn the new skills they need so that they can be successful in their new roles.
This is not very different from where we find ourselves in the Church in the US.  Most pastors and church people have been trained to do church in a certain way.  We know the skill sets for repeating the past, filling out forms, having the annual Men’s Club BBQ, participating in Bible study, making hospital visits and attending committee meetings.  Unfortunately these skills are unlikely to rescue our churches from their years of decline.
Leaders who want to see their churches grow need to prepare for a new role.  They need a new set of skills if they are going to be successful.  They need to understand the culture, be fluent in demographics, know how to share their faith, be effective at marketing, know the basics of social media, move beyond worship wars and understand what is connecting with unchurched people today.  Almost no one can do all of these things naturally. Church leaders need a coach to learn the new skills they need so that they can be successful in their new roles.

Finding Investors
I often hear church people say something like “our church could use some help but we cannot afford to pay a coach/consultant”. Money is tight in most congregations and many do not have a history of bringing in someone to help them navigate the many challenges of ministry.  I discussed this with a friend and we came up with an idea.  We want to help you find the resources necessary to make an investment in your church and its leaders.
Most congregations have one or more people who have more financial resources than the majority of the people in the church.  These people are blessed financially and many have helped the church out in the past when there was a significant need (roof repair, new HVAC, building project, etc.).  There is no more significant need than to turn around a struggling church and help it be more effective in reaching people with the life-changing message of Jesus.  Here is how we will help you to invest in coaching and consultation.
•Contact us today to discuss your ministry setting, challenges, opportunities and goals.  We will work with you to create a clear document which outlines the investment you wish to make and the likely return on that investment.
•You identify one or more people with the capacity to make a gift to the church to underwrite coaching and consultation.  The more people you identify the better.
•Set up an opportunity for you, the group of people you identified and Don to meet.  This can be face-to-face, via Skype or on the phone.  This meeting will be an opportunity for you to share your hopes and dreams, the potential donors to dialogue with Don and ask questions and the individuals asked to make a financial commitment to the process.
•Once the funds have been pledged/given, the scope of work can begin and your church will reap the return on the investment of the group.
