The Prayer Chapel located on the West side of the sanctuary is always open for prayer. You are also welcome to gather in the sanctuary for a time of prayer every Sunday morning from 8am-9am.
Every Friday morning at6:30am, a group of men meets at First Church for a time of sharing and prayer together over breakfast.
On the first Saturday of the month, a group of ladies meets at the Panera at 103rd & State Line for a time of fellowship and prayer.

40 Days of Prayer & Fasting
On Wednesday, January 14, we began a journey of prayer & fasting, in preparation for revival and renewal. A calendar of Scripture readings & fasting suggestions can be found by clicking here or by visiting our church website.
Home-based prayer meetings will occur several times during this journey. You are invited to attend any and all of these meetings as you are able. These meetings will take place in different areas of the city.

"Courageous" Movie Night
Plan now to attend a showing of the movie "Courageous" in the gym THIS SUNDAY, February 15, at 5pm! There will be activities in the youth room for children. Concessions and dinner will be available for purchase to raise money for our youth group. During intermission, our youth group will be "pie"-ing the top 3 pastors/sponsors from their pie fundraiser--stop by the youth booth in the foyer this Sunday to donate!
This event is open to all KCFC members, and members of the community. Be thinking now about who you could invite to this fun night.

Lunch & Learn
Our next Lunch & Learn session will take place this coming Tuesday, February 17, at 12pm. This month, Becky Grady will be sharing with us about her recently published book, "Freedom's Forty-Eight", a look into the lives of forty-eight former slaves who fought in the Civil War. Please bring your own lunch; desserts and beverages will be provided.
Men's Bible Study
We will be launching a new men's study group next Wednesday, February 18, from 6:30-7:30am at the Panera Bread at 103rd & State Line. This group will be led by Bill Schwarz and will begin by studying the themes in the movie Courageous: Honor Begins in the Home (showing at KC First this Sunday, February 15). Ash Wednesday Service
This Wednesday, February 18, at 6:30pm, we will gather in the sanctuary for our annual Ash Wednesday service: a time of music, prayer, and a message from Anne Hardy, our Congregational Care Pastor. After the message, you will be given the opportunity to respond by receiving ashes on your forehead or hands.
On the Church calendar, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent: 40 days of prayer, fasting, reflection, and preparation for the celebration of Christ's resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Ladies' Paint Night
Ladies of all ages are invited to a night of fun next Friday,February 20 as we paint one or two canvases with a scripture picture: lots of designs to choose from! You may also paint an extra one that will be taken to some of our homebound church family at a later date. Please meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Youth Room, and use the downstairs entrance near the gazebo.
What to bring: $5 (to offset the cost of paints), a canvas or two up to 20 inches in size, paintbrushes (if you have them), and a finger food to share. Paints will be provided.

"Slice of Life" Workshop
Everyone is invited to a writing workshop on Saturday, February 21 from 9:30am-11am in the library, featuring special guests J. Paul & Marilyn Turner. If you have longed to write important "slices" of your life, but never knew how to start, this workshop is for you. The workshop will feature helpful hints for writing, and advice from experienced writers.
Potluck with the Raineys
Scott Rainey and family, missionaries to Kiev, Ukraine, will be the guests of honor at a potluck hosted by the Disciples class next Sunday, February 22, in the Fellowship Hall following the morning service. If you would like to attend this meal, please sign up in the foyer after service this Sunday.
Testimony Night
All are invited to a special evening of story and song next Sunday, February 22, at 6pm in the Westside Room. Femi Akinmoladun, Kathy Cagg, Keith Fitzsimmons, and Steve Tatge will be sharing their stories of encountering Christ. There will be a reception in the Westside foyer following the service.
Mark Your Calendars...
Spiritual Renewal Services
Plan now to be a part of our annual spiritual renewal services held on March 1-4, with Dr. Scott Daniels, lead pastor of Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene! During the evening services on Sunday-Wednesday, kids in grades 1-4 are invited join Margaret Tyler, our KC District Children's Pastor, as she leads services especially geared for our children. There will be information/invitation cards at the greeters' desks this Sunday, with a complete listing of services and events during that week.
Ladies' Day Out
Women of all ages are invited to a ladies' day out on Saturday, March 14, to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri! The church bus will leave the church at 7am, and will return after dinner in Springfield. Cost: $65 (due March 8). Contact Emily Neeld for more information!
Pathways to Prayer
You are invited to be a part of an intergenerational day of prayer onSaturday, March 21, at 8am at YouthFront Camp near LaCygne, Kansas. Experience and learn about: prayer & work, prayer & art, prayer & the cross, prayer & nature, prayer & music. Register through the church office or by using our online giving page and marking "Day of Prayer" in the "other" category under "Fund". Cost: $20/adult, $10/child. Registration deadline will be March 8. More information can be found on our website.
GriefShare
Our church's GriefShare ministry now offers two weekly sessions: Saturday mornings at 10am (open to all) and Wednesday nights at 6pm(for men only).
The next Saturday morning, 13-week session will begin on March 14. Please be prayerful about who you may know that could benefit from this ministry to the bereaved. For more information, please contact Ministry Director Kathy Cagg at 816.333.6444 or kat13cat@hotmail.com.

Serving Women in Frantic Times (SWIFT)
Women of all ages are invited to this informal time of fellowship every other Wednesday to celebrate life and support each other! This group is dedicated to strengthening relationships and learning to laugh together. Email Emily Neeld at eneeld@att.net for more information!
For Men Only
A men's GriefShare group has recently formed at First Church. These sessions will be comprised of video seminars, workbook exercises, and small group discussions. The group will be led by Steve Fraley and Dr. Neil MacPherson, and take place on Wednesday nights from 6-7:30pm. This group is open to all men in KCFC and in the community. Registration is required by calling or emailing the church office(816.942.9022 or kcfc@kcfc.org).
Youth Alpha Film Series
This winter, our youth ministry department will participate in the Alpha Youth Film Series: 12 interactive sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith, designed specifically for young people. This is the perfect event to invite those young people who have questions about Christianity! The sessions will take place on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm, beginning with dinner in the gym. Young Adult "Encounter"
Every Thursday night, our young adult group meets at 7:00pm in the prayer chapel for an intentional time of prayer, fellowship, and Bible study. Contact Audrey Landers (alanders@kcfc.org) for more information!
Men's Prayer Breakfast
Gentlemen, before beginning your Friday each week, enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast with a group of First Church men. We meet every Friday at 6:30am in the church atrium. Every first Friday of the month, we serve a hot breakfast. Contact Chip Kraft for more information.
