To the Woman who Doubts Herself and Her Call,
Yes, I am talking to you.
You, the woman who knows deep down in her soul that you have been called to lead others but you have not stepped out into that calling yet because you doubt.
You doubt that God could ever use someone like you.
Sound familiar? If you have ever whispered that disqualifier in your mind to push away the passion that rises up in you… then allow me to speak into you for a moment.
You, sweet friend, have been the victim of a great deception. You have been targeted by the enemy of your soul with one of the most powerful and effective weapons that he wields...doubt.
You see, this enemy understands just how powerful the grace of God is. He knows that there is no one in this world who is too broken, too young, too inexperienced, too disqualified, or too sinful to be used mightily by God. He knows that God’s supreme sovereignty is a spiritual rule he must operate around. He has found the best way that he can still succeed despite this powerful truth is to make the very people that God seeks to use doubt their usefulness.
Think about those moments that you feel passionate and full of purpose. You feel excited at the possibility of serving God in new ways with your gifts and talents. Then what happens?
Many times doubt begins to whisper:
- You can't do that… you aren't experienced enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't qualified enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't connected enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't educated enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't resourced enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't available enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't old enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't young enough.
- You can't do that… you aren't prepared enough.
- Your gifts
- Your talents
- Your voice
- Your passions
- Your energy
- Your time
- Your influence
- Your story
- Your example of God’s grace
Women seem to be especially vulnerable to this attack.
My heart physically hurts each and every time that I talk to women who have fallen victim to the attack of doubt. I ache for those whose names and stories I know and for those who I don't know.
I ache because I know the great potential inside of each of you… not just personal potential to achieve big goals and dreams, though that is there too! No, I am talking about something so much bigger than ourselves… our kingdom potential. The infinite ways that God can work through you to touch and change the lives of people in your spheres of influence. I mourn the loss of leadership when women fail to see themselves as valuable tools for God to use to help build his kingdom!
I desperately wish that I could sit down with each of you and share a cup of coffee and tell you that I was once one of you. I listened to the lies of the enemy and remained on the sidelines for many years. I had a deep belief that God wanted to use me- all of me- my successes and my failures to minister to others. Yet, despite feeling called… I doubted...and because I doubted… I sat.
Then one day, God opened my eyes to see I was not alone. The world was full of women like me who needed to be activated to break free of the sidelines and rise up to join the fight for our families, our friends, our neighbors, and our co-workers. He called me to start a movement to help accomplish this very thing.
We call that movement LeadHer Local. Each chapter strives to unite women of all ages, denominations, races, and economic bracket to come together to be challenged to see her potential and seek to walk in the fullness of it. Our chapters are led by like minded women who have shaken off the lure of the sidelines and proclaimed, “Here I am Lord, use me.”
There is no seminary degree required to be a coordinator.
There is no formal leadership experience requirement to lead a chapter.
There is no financial obligation to start a chapter.
I am a believer that leadership can be developed and that it is often molded strongest out of our own doubts and fears which have long kept us silent and sidelined.
The primary thing we look for in a LeadHer Coordinator is not experience but willingness. If you are willing we will invest in you. We will train you, connect you, encourage you, equip you, and support you as you move further and further away from the sidelines and deeper and deeper into the plans and purposes that God has for your life! Our coordinators are our favorite people and we work hard to provide them with ongoing training and support as they continue to grow in their own faith and leadership- and lead other women to do the same!
I can't promise that it will always be easy- but I can assure you, without hesitation, that it is always worth it. There is nothing more rewarding on earth than using your God-given passion for God’s perfect purposes!
While I may not be able to sit down with every woman who struggles with this battle...I can challenge every woman to break free and find their place to step into.
Please hear this, If LeadHer is not where God is calling you… You're not off the hook or off my heart! I still want to see you activated and engaged so be intentional about finding your purpose and your place!
For those who feel that your place is LeadHer, I look forward to that opportunity to get to know you and your story, develop your passions, and encourage you in the mission to call other women off the sidelines!
Our next training group for new LeadHer Coordinators starts in just a couple of weeks and I would love to see you be a part of it! If this idea stirs your heart and floods your soul with passion… Don't let the enemy sideline you any longer. Trust that God is bigger than your doubts and take that first step off the sideline by clicking here learning more about the steps you need to take to start a LeadHer chapter.
Matthew Arnold once said, “If ever there comes a time when the women of the world come together purely and simply for the benefit of mankind, it will be a force such as the world has never known!"
Ladies, it's time to rise above our doubts, to move away from what has become comfortable, and to come together in a such a force that the world or the enemy has never experienced.
