Solomon" for Thursday, 28 July 2016Eugene Victor Solomon, 94, a retired clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference was born January 5, 1922 in rural Rose, Kan. He died July 26, 2016 in Chanute, Kansas.
He married Anna Virginia Carlson on June 15, 1946 at the Center Ridge Evangelical United Brethren Church. He graduated from Bonebrake Theological Seminary, Dayton, Ohio in 1951. Eugene was a pastor for 33 years. He served churches in Oklahoma: Weatherford and Mount Zion and in Kansas: Mt. Zion, Mizpah-Industry, Great Bend, La Crosse, Jetmore-Hanston, Eskridge-Harveyville and Baxter Springs-Blue Mound. Retired in 1984. Eugene and Virginia moved to Chanute for their retirement years.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, two daughters, Meredith Collins, Chanute, Kan., and Anita Christensen and husband, James, Mesa, Ariz.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 202 S. Lincoln Ave., Chanute, Kansas. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com. Memorials have been suggested to the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
