Today we pray for 300 United Methodist leaders who gather with more than 2,000 other spiritual leaders for the 21st World Methodist Council and Conference in Houston, Texas. This event, which is held once every five years, begins August 30 and ends September 4, 2016.
Please pray for traveling mercies as women and men from around the globe make their way to this historic event. We pray for each delegate selected to represent the 80 different Wesleyan traditions and 80 million members in 133 different countries (for more information click here).
Let us pray: “Gracious God, we ask for your favor and protection as our brothers and sisters travel from around the world to the World Methodist Council and Conference in Houston, Texas. Give them safe travel. Let the presence of Your Spirit fill them with joy and the strength of our prayers give them energy to do the work you have called them to do. Let their hearts and minds be open to the guidance of your Holy Spirit; give them wisdom and humility in their deliberations; and, enable them to experience the unity that is in Christ alone. This is our prayer. Let it be so–Amen.”
