But the historic obstruction of Chief Judge Merrick Garland's nomination has already lasted over 170 days.

Dear Friends:
As an immigrant and a faith leader, I was deeply disappointed by the Supreme Court's 4-4 decision that delayed justice for early childhood arrivals (DACA) and parents of American citizens (DAPA) earlier this year.
The ruling ran against our multi-religious mandate to love our neighbor and our nation's historical commitment to welcome the stranger.
And I am afraid the Court's failure to act will continue to endanger the lives of millions of our undocumented neighbors hoping for a chance to live without the fear of deportation. These families would have been safe if the Senate had confirmed the President's nominee for the Supreme Court.
Will you join me and the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Lewis in asking the Senate to move forward with the nomination process for Chief Judge Merrick Garland?
To us, this isn't a political issue, but a moral one.
Right now, our judicial system can't uphold justice and rights for all who call America home because of the Senate's continued delay in filling the Supreme Court vacancy.
As someone who has been involved in the struggle for more humane treatment of our undocumented siblings and comprehensive immigration reform, I can say with firsthand knowledge that millions of our neighbors and their livelihoods are on the line.
Whether you care about immigration, women's rights, civil liberties, labor, or criminal justice reform - the 9th Supreme Court seat needs to be filled to support justice for all who call America home.
We believe that people of faith can be a crucial voice in calling on our elected leaders to fulfill their moral obligation by moving promptly through the confirmation process. We need to come together to protect our democracy and to uphold the pursuit of justice.
