In Memoriam - Miriam Weber from The Great Plains Conference of The United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas, United States for Tuesday, 3 January 2017
Miriam Louise Weber, 89, a retired Diaconal Minister of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016. Miriam was born Dec. 15, 1927 in Vernon County, WI to Earl and Viratine Cade Weber.
She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945 and from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. While in college, she became involved with the work of the Warren County Group Ministry and worked with the youth group at Center Chapel United Methodist Church for twelve years. In 1958, Miriam enrolled at Boston University School of Theology where she received her Master’s Degree in Christian Education in 1961. She then returned to the Midwest and accepted the position of Director of Christian Education at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls, WI, for 18 years. Her last place of employment was in 1980 at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha, Nebraska where she served for 10 years until her retirement in 1990.
Survivors include her sister, Marjorie Moore of Indianola, IA; brother Richard (Eloise) Weber of Platteville, WI.
A Memorial service was held today, Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 in the Heritage Room at The Village in Indianola, Iowa.
Memorials may be given to The Good Shepherd Fund at The Village or any of the United Methodist Churches she was a member of, in care of Overton Funeral Home, 501 W. Ashland Ave., Indianola, IA 50125.
