"God Helps" with the Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:4-6 for Saturday, 18 March 2017 from Deaf Devo of Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States

"God Helps" with the Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:4-6
2 Corinthians 3:4 Such is the confidence we have through the Messiah toward God. 5 It is not that we are competent in ourselves to count anything as having come from us; on the contrary, our competence is from God. 6 He has even made us competent to be workers serving a New Covenant, the essence of which is not a written text but the Spirit. For the written text brings death, but the Spirit gives life.

My son was learning to ride his bicycle without training wheels. I held onto the back of the bicycle seat to support him as he pedaled. Soon he was able to take off without my support. From that time forward, he was able to ride his bicycle alone.
Just as I helped my son learn to ride his bicycle, God helps us grow and live for Him each day. Verse 5 of our Bible Reading says, "I don't mean that we are able to do anything good ourselves. It is God who makes us able to do all that we do."
Often when we try to do something without God, we fail. But God is always ready to step in and help us accomplish what we want to do. We need to be willing to depend on God and accept the way He leads us.
God created the universe, so we can know for sure that He has the power to help us. Depend on God today. He will never let you down![Lynette Harris Denton]
"And God is the one who makes you and us strong in Christ. God is also the one who chose us for his work."[2 Corinthians 1:21]
PRAYER: Dear Lord, please lead me and help me as I live for You today. Thank You for Your plan for my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"Trust in God" for Friday, 17 March 2017 from Deaf Devo of The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States with the Bible Reading: Psalm 34:17-19
Psalm 34:17 (16) But the face of Adonai opposes those who do evil,
to cut off all memory of them from the earth.
18 (17) [The righteous] cried out, and Adonai heard,
and he saved them from all their troubles.
19 (18) Adonai is near those with broken hearts;
he saves those whose spirit is crushed.
20 (19) The righteous person suffers many evils,
but Adonai rescues him out of them all.

Life on earth is not easy. Every person - whether a Christian or not - has struggles and pain. As long as we live on earth, we will face problems.
The devil wants Christians to let their problems distract them from following God. But God is with us. He protects us and helps us through our struggles and pain. God helps us focus on Him, not on the bad things that are happening in our lives.
God always knows what is happening to us. Our Bible verses for today tell us that God knows about the things that disappoint or discourage us. Sometimes God allows these things to challenge our faith or to cause us to depend more on Him.
God knows all about your life today. Allow Him to comfort and take care of you.[Chase Crough]
"My brothers and sisters, you will have many kinds of trouble...You know that when your faith is tested, you learn to be patient in suffering. If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be."[James 1:2-4]
PRAYER: Lord, I am happy because You know about me and take care of me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
